why I love filming weddings on super 8
If your grandparents had a wedding video, chances are it would have been filmed on super 8. That’s why I love love love filming weddings using it. For me, it just feels so timeless and magical - warm, flickering frames that feel like memories as they’re happening. It’s so imperfect, with little scratches and light leaks, like a memory you can hold in your hands.

I fell in love with 8mm film from the 70s years ago, and since then, it’s found its way into so much of my work (it’s my favourite wedding film package I offer today). I love using authentic movie film to capture precious moments, and because of the motion picture film’s unique colours and texture, the result is always so unique. It turns real life into something you want to frame.

I shoot on a vintage Super 8 camera using Kodak film, which is then developed and scanned by a lab. The beauty of it is that it’s shot directly onto physical reels — something you just can’t replicate digitally. The whole process is hands-on, taking time and care, but that’s what makes it so special. It’s not polished or perfect, and that’s exactly why I love it.
Super 8 suits people who want something a bit different from their wedding film. Something soft, imperfect, honest. If you’re drawn to old family footage, home movies, or that dreamy, nostalgic feel — you’ll probably fall in love with it too. It’s a beautiful way to bottle up the mood of the day, without it feeling staged or overproduced.

Some couples choose to blend a Super 8 film with a digital one — it gives the best of both worlds. I also offer full Super 8 only films, which is the direction I’m leaning more into.
